Antique Piano Stool By Tonk of Chicago. Does not say New York so does this pre-date the Chicago- New York stools? I have not been able to find any definitive information on that subject. This stool is made from a darker wood and I don't see the grain patterns to indicate Oak or Walnut, but the color looks to BE more of a walnut. It is in good shape for a 100 plus year old stool. The height adjustment works as it should. There is a slight amount of "play" when in the elevated position. There are a couple of missing chips of wood at the bottom where the cross braces intersect. (shown in photo). The feet appear to have been coated with a metallic paint. No other modifications or repairs have been done that I can detect. While I highly discourage returns, primarily because of the shipping cost involved, I will work with you to resolve any issues. I try to provide an accurate and honest assessment of any item I list but I am not an expert.
