is a beautiful, well taken care of, antique STERLING SILVER Flatware set made by TOWLE STERLING. The pattern is the lovely "OLD MIRROR" and they have NO Monograms!, which is pretty much hard to come by, I think most old Sterling sets have monograms.This set has service for eight and one big Serving Spoon for a total of 41 pieces. The pieces are marked with the TOWLE Hallmark (Lion rearing inside of a fancy letter "T"). They are also marked "Sterling" PAT. and "Old Mirror". The set comes in an "optional" & beautiful "Style House" Wood Chest, which is lined with blue felt. T is a pull out lower drawer in the chest that houses the dinner knives and serving spoon. The chest does provide protection for the silver but should the new owner not want the chest, I will adjust the shipping price at the end of the auction. The chest is 13 5/8" long x 11 1/4" wide x 5 3/4" deep and is a nice walnut color. NOW for the Pieces!! I will be very Descriptive as I want the new owner to be happy with this beautiful set. Conditions noted below: 1. 8 "Bouillon" Soup Spoons, 6 1/4" long x 1 3/4" spoon head. EXCELLENT! Just a few common teeny tiny edge nics from use and some minor scratches in the silver. 38 grams individually, 301 grams total! 2. 8 Teaspoons, 6" long x 1 1/4" spoon head. EXCELLENT! Same condition as above spoons. 28 grams each, 230 grams total! 3. 8 heavy, Dinner Forks, 7 1/4" long. EXCELLENT! A few of the forks have some common, minor nics in the prongs from use and some minor scratches. 48-50 grams each! 394 grams total! 4. 8 Salad Forks, 6 1/4" long. EXCELLENT! Just a few minor, common scratches in the silver from use. 37-38 grams each. 302 grams total! 5. 8 Dinner Knives, 8 3/4" long. The blades of the knives are stainless steel while the handles are Sterling. Handles are 3 3/4" long. T is no movement between the handles and blades, they are secure! One of the knives has some wear in the stainless at the tip on both sides of the blade. It looks like a grouping of small nics in the steel. They do not change the contour of the blade and the tip is structurally sound. The same knife's handle is flat at the handle end (small end dent) but it is not noticeable except on close inspection. The rest of the Knives are EXCELLENT! having just a few minor, common scratches from use. Each knife is approx. 65 grams, 535 grams total weight. 5. Big Serving Spoon, 8.5" long x Spoon head is 1 3/4" x 3". Some very minor scratches/edge nics in the silver from use. The back side of the spoon, up toward the tip, has a small grouping of some patterned, shallow line marks. It looks like something came in contact and made an impression in the silver, but they are extremely minor! T are NO DENTS in this pretty spoon. 69 grams! Winning bidder: Please email me at the close of auction if you DO NOT want the chest. Otherwise the invoice sent will inlcude the chest in the shipping price. Insurance is required for this auction.
