At auction is A ANTIQUE WOODEN PLAY TOY with EXCEPTIONAL FAIRYTALE GRAPHICS. PAPER LITHO is SIMPLY AWESOME and includes HUMPTY DUMPTY , MOTHER GOOSE , PUNCH & JUDY . OLD KING COAL , THE BROWNIES , and THE COW THAT JUMPED OVER THE MOON. Obviously, the nails had been added back in the time. The top boards, are slightly over 1/4" thick and may have been nailed to join to the back rails and appear much more like a ladder. 32" in length, 3 1/2" wide. The two top boards are 16" long and are tongue & groove and appear to be joined at the correct spot as the litho line up correctly. The top board still has the top tongue showing , but I would think that the cow jumping over the moon would be the very top. On the very bottom edge of the top board, the nos. 939 appear in front of king coal. The nos. 940 appear on the bottom board on the tip of huimpty dumpty's fallen cap. There is wear and loss to the paper litho, but given it ages, I believe its fair minimum. ALL I'm certain of, is that the graphics are incredible. Humpty Dumpty is fabulous. The Moon. Must date back to the LATE 1800's Early 1900's with these graphics. If it was an actual play toy I'm not quite certain, but whatever it maybe for, it does leave you believing in fairytales again.
