is a cool old planetarium I found and purchased in an antique store during a recent road trip through Nebraska. The wooden arm measures 17" long, and the height of this planetarium is 13 1/2". Total length is 20". The 7 1/2" base is a heavy scalloped brass & the sun (18" around) is also brass. I haven't cleaned this at all, so the brass has a fairly even color of tarnish or "patina", and the whole planetarium has a random speckling of white paint spots. When I got home from my road trip I looked at completed listings for these, and viewed another Trippensee (not as complete as this one) originating from Nebraska - it was also described as having paint spatters! I surmise that at one time the schools who used these perhaps had painting done for their classrooms and didn't cover up everything as well as they could have. Anyway - not a bad problem, and the globe's paint spots are very tiny. I took 12 photos, and you should be able to get a really good idea of how this will look for you if you take time & study them. The globe's colors have faded some, but Earth is actually in good shape with 7-8 paper scuffs, but nothing too serious. The Moon has significant paint loss, and Mercury has just a small amount of paint loss. The sun is in great shape with only a VERY shallow dimple right near the top, but no dents or seam separation. The bottom chain is missing, and the moving action of the Moon around Earth is a bit stiff, but workable. Otherwise, I think this is in remarkably good shape.
