Antique Victorian tussie mussie posey holder. About 5" long and has an attached chain and finger ring. T is a hole for a pin, but it was lost long ago. Embossed pattern of oak leaves, acorns, couple of flowers and maybe grape vines? I have searched but cannot find a marking on this - maybe the pin had it? A magnet does not stick to the metal, and it is very light weight. Could possibly be silver, but I cannot confirm. T is discoloration on one side and a lot of tarnish. The discolored side is lighter in nature - possibly someone tried to polish at one time? Close inspection shows a tiny tear at the top of one scalloped edge, that could be a manufacturing defect. Also, w handle meets the bowl (two separate pieces) t are also a couple of tiny tears at the seam. Piece seems a little out of round to me - maybe was squished a little. I also see remnants of black on the finger ring and chain, which lead me to believe - along with the pattern - that this could be a mourning posey holder. Please ask questions or for more pictures before auction ends. Buyer to pay actual postage.
