In khaki-green wool , 2 & 1/2 inch wide corded trim . leather chin strap, 2 strap buttons AND the wonderful OLD Marine Corps Emblem .. in high relief!! T is a moth hole to the right front & the inside leather trim is only partial & as the pictures demonstrate -not attached properly. I THINK this is WWI .. but it takes you experts to correct me when You Know Better!! Which knowledge sharing I do appreciate. The satin lining is in poor shape & reads : ARMY AND NAVY CO-OPERATIVE COMPANY .. NEW YORK - WASHINGTON - PHILADELPHIA. " Then a logo of anchor & 2 crossed cannon .. with N A C " The construction is interesting, showing what appears to be a stiff weave of - bamboo(?) Although the back of the rim which would fit on the head is a bit flattened .. a period in a hat form might fix that. The head size is not given, but I judge this to be some 8 inches across from back seam to center front .. & .. nearly 7 inches from ear to ear. Take a good look at the photos before you bid. Personally I think the Half-round World with Anchor and Eagle alone is worthy of your bid!
