This auction is for one (1) Hard-to-come-by LITHOGRAPHED BISCUIT/CRACKER TIN from VANDERVEER & HOLMES BISCUIT CO., NEW YORK! This fantastic early piece of tin storage container was acquired some time ago from a Maine estate sale -- just a fabulous find! [Note: I am listing several more drug store pieces and tins in my other auctions -- check them out!] A great example of early 1900s craftsmanship, it's in remarkably great condition , considering its age and use! Really, the only issues are some paint loss and t and (2) outward little bends on right side of lid, and the front latch is missing its little "catch" piece -- otherwise, just fantastic tin, with no dents, rusting, holes, etc.! Great for display or collection! Tin has wonderful lithographed images on all sides, including lid, of children in various stages of being mischievious and sweet! Base is embossed: VANDERVEER & HOLMES BISCUIT CO/ *AE *CRACKERS*/ CORWASHINGTON&HUBERT.STS/ NEWYORK/ U.S.A./ with shield trade mark logo in center; TRADE MARK/ AE/ bordered in stars. Still has the beautiful bronze patina on base! Treasure measures approximately 10 1/2" x 6 1/2" x 4 1/2"h. Still, n othing detracts from the display or value of this wonderful collector's piece!
