This is an extrodinary Victorian Photo Photography album with music box. It is covered with red velvet and has a lovely metal closure (see picture, acorns). I suspect that it is from the late 1800s and that the pictures are from the same era. The pictures are identified as to the photographer on the back and are from England, New York, Massachusetts and Pennsylvania. I did not remove all to check the back for identification. I included pictures of several of the photos to assist you in confirming your interest. Note that I included lots of pictures of the album and music box movement. If I failed to include an angle that you feel necessary to asses it value, email me and I will include more. Note the picture of the movement of the music box. It is marked with numbers but no country of origin. I suspect it is german but it could be swiss. It is different from most that I have seen and I hope that someone out t in ebay land will recognize the movement and email me with information. I don't recognize the tune but it is absolutely lovely. This is a 32 note movement that plays until it winds down as opposed to turning on and off when the door to the album is opened and closed. The album measures 11 inches tall and 14 inches wide. The larger photos measure approximately 6 inches by 4 1/2 inches and the smaller children photos measure 3 inches by 2 inches. T is one child picture that is 6 inches by 4 1/2 inches but the rest are small. Let me attempt to give you a good understanding of the condition of the album, music box and photos. The velvet on the album is worn in several places but it is not does not distract from the beauty of the album. The metal closure is functional and complete. The frames inside the album are fragile but those toward the rear are near perfect. The first two have damage to the bottom portion of the paper frame but the paper is t and ready to be restored. Most of the frames are fine. The pictures are in lovely condition. The music box plays well but on occation you must gently touch the key to start it playing. I attempt to assure that my auction winners are pleased with their purchases by being complete in my discriptions. This is an important piece.
