Here is an antique ventriloquist doll, probably dating from the 1920's or '30's. He has a composition head and hands and a cloth stuffed body. He measures 20 inches long, with a head circumference of 12 inches. His mouth works fine by using the pull string.This little doll is somewhere between fair and good condition. Flaws and issues as I see them are: There has been repainting in his hair, mouth and teeth, and over a scuff on the end of his nose. Also, some paint was at one time rubbed into areas where the original paint is cracking. No paint is actively flaking off. Pull string does not look original with the ring that is on the end. Hat might be original, home-made jacket is not. In his favor, he is cute with his mischievous side-glancing eyes. He is in good sturdy shape for his age. A collector looking for perfection would not be pleased with this doll. He would be great "as is" for decor, or a fun project for someone talented in restoration.
