ANTIQUE VICTORIAN 10ct SOLID ROSE GOLD COMBINATION DIP PEN/PENCIL ( SECRETAIRE) Very very rare combination dip pen/pencil in 10ct solid rose gold made by Mabie Todd & Co. New York in about 1860.It is totally original with original 14ct rose gold nib. The pen is Stamped on barrel : MABIE TODD & Co No 3 Nib is also No 3, which is also stamped Mabie Todd & Co Handle has wonderful heavy repousse engraved head,which pulls out,and turns to reveal pencil containing original lead.Pushed back in and turned to reveal dip pen. Measurements are: Fully extended 11cm in length,barrel width is 8mm.Pen fully retracted is 6cm in length. Condition is excellent, no dents dinks,repairs scratches etc. Weight is 10.3 grams. The gold content does not appear on pen,which is quite usual for Victorian era,it has been professionally tested and guaranteed to be as described.
