This beautiful large solid oak stationery chest was given as a gift to Arthur Gregg esq from a Mr. George Walker in the year 1897. The manufacturer's name was Finnigan of Manchester, England - this is stamped upon the writing skiver within the chest. The solid oak very thick case is in very good condition - good sheen to the aged oak which is very smooth to the touch - has aged very well and is now the colour of a golden honey. There are no faults nor marks nor blemishes to this case. On either side of the case - two very ornate large brass carrying handles - both are firmly affixed.To the top of the chest - a small oval cartouche - dedicating this stationery chest to Arthur Gregg. A raised brass escutcheon to front of chest - this chest comes with its original two lever strong lock - though key to this lock is missing. Internally - as you can see by the photos - this fine Victorian Gentlemans chest is in very good condition. There is a full length writing
