Beautiful quality large drop Earrings in an oriental style bought in Paris where they have been stored with other attic items since 1900. I do not know if they are antique Chinese or of other Eastern origin - Japanese -or even any Vietnamese connection, a former French colony, but they are intricately detailed and of skilled manufacture. The large oval drop, approx. 25 x 19 mm, has a Blue Enamel Greek key border around a central hand pierced and engraved motif of a winged bird perched amongst detailed foliage in rose, yellow and silver coloured metal merged together to give a shaded effect. This is mounted on a dull grey pewter like base visible from the reverse in a plain polished gold plated frame. The upper sections are approx. 9mm diameter with another dark blue cloisonne enamel pattern. The fittings are simple shepherd's hooks and give a total length of almost 6 cm. The Earrings are highlighted by 5 x 1.5 mm natural Turquoise stones in raised collets. The dark Blue Enamel is transparent over a guilloche base with the Key pattern as raised cloisonne divisions. Very good condition and appear to have been little worn. They equally appealing to a collector of Eastern antiquities as to a fashion trend setter! Fabulous gift for Valentine's Day! The date of manufacture of these Earrings is around 1900 or earlier but I do not know read more
