is a very nice antique victorian deep walnut wood shadow box picture frame. This picture frame dates from approx. the 1870's 1880's period. The frame measures from the outside 15" wide and 17" tall. The picture size the frame holds is 8" by 10". This frame has the original old wavey glass. The depth of the frame is 6" and is made from 3 separate layers giving the frame a very nice deep shadow box effect. The first outer layer of the frame is a nice walnut wood. The second layer is a nice gesso faux painted mahogany. The last inner layer is painted gold over gesso. Each layer is painted black in between in order to give the frame more depth and an even more shadow box effect. I dont know anything about the print thats inside the the frame. It was in it when I got the frame and I believe it is more recent but is the perfect compliment to the frame itself. The backing is wood. This lovely antique picture frame is in good condition. It has a few scuffs and scratches and a few small gesso chips which can easily be touched up if you so desire. The frame is nice and sturdy. It is thick and heavy and was made with very fine craftmanship that the victorians are known for. This beautiful antique victorian is the perfect compliment to a fine home and sure to be a stunning addition in anyones decore.
