RECENT ESTATE ACQUISITION! Victorian Fish Servers This set is of special interest because the 2 utensils have survived together. The heavy weight and excellent design of this set indicte that it was probably made by one of the top silversmithing firms in the late 19th century. In fashionable, well-to-do 19th-century households, fish was often served as one of several courses during the main meal. Many sets of matched slices and forks were specially made to serve fish. Over the years, most of these paired utensils have become seperated. When this happens, the fork usually loses its specialized identity, because it is so similar to other types of forks. But the slice is always recognizable because of its uniquely shaped blade, which more frequently than not has a fish engraved on its surface. Sterling Silver handles with silver plated knife blade and fork tines. The knife measure 12 1/2 inches in length. The fork measures 9 1/2 inches in length. Sterling silver handles are weighted. The combined weight is 9.8 ounces. Very Good Condition . GREAT COLLECTIBLE!! CUSTOMER SATISFACTION GUARANTEED. COMBINED SHIPPING ON MULTIPLE ITEMS.
