We are thrilled to offer you this awesome and very nice antique rose gold filled unusual chain link necklace , with a superb cameo pendant, also in rose gold! This piece is in remarkable condition for being over 100 years old, with minimal wear to the rich rose gold finish on both necklace and pendant! I have never seen a link arrangement like in this necklace, and have no idea what to call it, or how to describe it! It feels quite delicate, but is sturdy as the links are doubly connected to their neighboring links! And the clasp ! i think these are called bullet clasps- it works well and is a lovely hue of rose gold! The necklace is 17 3/4" long, when the clasp is closed, and the lavaliere pendant drapes 1 1/8" down. The 'chain' is a tad less than 1/4" wide, and deep , and the weight is 12.3 grams. Although unmarked for gold content, the pendant tests for at least 10 karat gold, most likely filled , and possibly some plating as well... see the gleaming back of the pendant! Now i can expand on the most interesting part! The pendant connects to the chain by 2 rings at either side on top. It is 1 1/8" long, and 3/4" in width at top. It is 5/16" thick, too! The delicately carved Scottish agate, or sardonyx, cameo is set on an oval platform which rises up above the rest of the pendant. A stippled rose gold leaf sits at her feet, and a stippled green gold crown sits above her lovely head. A raised, embossed with beading thin gold design wraps around the cameo in a sort of shield design. The base supports all of this finery with ease, and is shaped like an inverted tear drop. It has beveled edges and gently slope down to the dramatic cannon ball edging which encompasses the perimeter! Even the bales for the chain are ornate, with a scrolled flourish! The lady portrayed in the cameo faces left, and how the carver managed to get the detail in her face and bust that he did amazes me! Her long locks are swept back in a sort of pony tail, and a tiara rests atiop her head. Her eyes, mouth and especially her nose are refined and lovely! She wears a high collar dress or robe! The stone is free of chips and cracks. The back has a wee ding in the lower center- not sure if this is from how the platform is connected to the base, i.e. meant to be t, or if junior got a-hold of Madame's treasure in his mouth when he was teething and she was placing an order for 3 nice pork chops with old Mr. Correti , the butcher! Below that is a raised rectangle, with what looks like a hallmark on it... but i can't decipher it. Thank you for your interest, and please write with any intelligent questions! :)
