Victorian Rolled Gold (Watch Case)Mourning Photo Locket/Pendant with Intricate Hand Engraving and Old Photograph/Daguerreotype c.1850-60 This is an absolutely delightful Victorian rolled gold photo locket/watch case. It has some of the prettiest hand-engraving that I have ever seen on a locket of this type. Both outer sides are hand-engraved with elaborate swirling foliate patterns on the perimeter and a diagonal pattern running along the center. Front also has the initials E.L etched on the perimeter. It has within it, an old photo of 2 young women (which I am quite certain is a daguerreotype) in very nice condition. They do look like sisters. The original glass and retaining rings are inside and in great shape. Locket has a jump ring/bail at the top, so it can be threaded easily with a chain or a pretty velvet cord. Unfortunately the hinge needs replacing. The locket will stay closed securely, but the back is no longer attched to the front by its hinge. The pendant measures a very generous, 2" long (including the bail) x 1.50" wide
