I have for auction a very beautiful and well preserved antique hanging lamp. This came out of a large and grand house in Florida that was built in the mid to late 1800's; the house was styled more georgian than victorian. This is a beautiful hanging lamp, the brass is beautiful as is the shade. The brass ceiling fixture measures a hair less than 6 inches across and is about 4 1/2 inches deep, it has a touch of plaster on the top and is tarnished. The chains are 36 inches long . At the end of the chain is the fixture that the light is attached and the large glass dome is fitted. Please look at my pictures to see how the dome is attached, it loops into the groove in the glass and a set screw holds it in place; note that there is only one light fixture, it is simply a screw into the assembly fixture but certainly one couldn't use the old ones anyway. You will also notice looking at the pictures that the wire goes through the brass through a hole where the chain connects. On the globe itself you will notice a couple of very small nicks on the rim, this is caused by this S looking hook that the shade attaches to (I would suggest that where these two meet a small clear plastic tube (such as found in model airplane fuel line) be slid over the hook or the glass to help prevent in pressure of glass against metal). The nicks won't be seen read more
