This is a fabulous antique Victorian mourning wreath made from real hair in a deep antique frame under glass. It is intricately woven in the form of flowers, petals and tendrils...1850's vintage. The floral hair work measures approx. 6 1/2" x 6" and is set against background with the word "Flotella" on the bottom. A lovely molded gold border and deep shadow box oval gold frame with carved acorns, vines and leaves encircle this wonderful piece of Victoriana. The frame is approx. 4 1/2" deep, 14" wide and 16" long. The backing is all wood and t is a wire for hanging. The wavy antique glass certainly adds to its charm. The hair work is in excellent condition and the frame is excellent as well. T are, of course, very tiny scratches, and a minor touch up of the gold on the outside of the gold frame, but nothing to detract or even noticeable. This is a fantastic piece and hard to describe its workmanship. Looks outstanding hanging.
