This is for an antique Victorian canteen box with brass fittings. It measures 16.75" by 11.75" by 3.5" This originally housed a set of cutlery by Joseph Rodgers and Sons of Sheffield, England. Silverplated forks with steel and rounded natural material handles. The canteen can fit two carving forks and two carving knives with a sharpener. Then 12 dinner / table forks, 12 table knives, 12 dessert knives and 12 dessert forks. Blue felt interior and a retailers stamp of J. WHITEHEAD PRESTON on an ox bone lozenge. The lock is stamped IMPROVED LOCK but it is missing the key. Brass fitting at each corner. The box has signs of wear as expected for something over 100 years old.
