What a lovely and very beautiful we have to offer you today! It is made with incredibly lovely hand enameled draping bows and flowers, along with a sweet pictorial hand painted center of a little girl and her little puppy! I call all doggies..."puppies," big or small...the puppy looks like a terrier breed and the background of the scene looks likes of the bluffs of Scotland and Ireland! The draped swag laurel portion has two drapes that are connected with a very pretty fishnet or stone style accent that obviously, I am having trouble describing...but wanted to try and point it out as it is very interesting as well, with a pretty teal blue green color! The bowl is 11" at the widest point across the top, with a 3" wide base that has a concaved ground pontil that is a little darker than the white opaque glass on the back. The tallest crimped ruffle is 4" tall! The peachblow color is exquisite and is cased in a beautiful clear crystal glass! I have a little bit of bad news...t is a 3/4" x 3/4" missing piece or chip on the edge of the bowl, I had to file it down as it WAS sharp. It is not too bad now. T is also a very small nick on one point of a ruffle on the cased clear portion of the glass, which is very minor. The bowl has some of the usual cooling marks and some popped elongated air bubbles from the hand blown process, which is normal in this type of 1880's, Victorian Era glassware. This bowl is truly amazing and was most likely made by a glass house liken to that of Mt. Washington or New England Glass. The bowl does NOT have a metal basket, but would display nicely with or without one and you can easily hide the ruffle with the missing piece. Although it is not perfect, this is one of the nicest bride's bowl I have seen in person and it will be an extra special piece to add to your Antique Victorian Era Glassware collection!
