Antique Victorian Picture Book Frame - Rare & Beautiful

This is a very ornate and beautiful Victorian frame with matting. I believe the style is called Picture Book because it resembles a photo or picture book. Both the frame and matting are composed of several layers. The frame is composed of, first, a solid 1 inch wood layer trimmed with copper. Next is the ornately carved layer you in the picture, which is about 1 1/4 inches thick. Inside this carved layer, against the glass, is another wooden layer which seems to be decorated in copper as well. The glass in the frame appears to be antique glass. The matte is outlined in burgundy velvet. The cream color layer just inside the burgundy looks like leather or maybe heavy, textured paper. Then comes more decorative paper, ribbon, etc. in the center of the matte. The frame measures 15 inches tall and 13 inches wide. As you can see in the pictures, t are a couple of places w the copper trim is missing on the left side of the bottom layer of the frame. I've tried to picture these clearly. This layer also has very slight wear to the wood on the corners. T are no problems with the more ornate, carved layer of the frame. The frame is absolutely beautiful as is but a quality restoration to these few places would also do justice to this rare antique. ** ** ** ** ** ** ** * Packing: I pack with care - lots of bubblewrap and peanuts - and doublebox all heavy items. I will combine purchases when possible. Antiques: I am not a dealer. Although I try to make sure they are authentic, I basically buy antiques that I like. All items listed are my personal items acquired over the last 10-20 years. I am selling them because I moved to a smaller house. Returns: I do not sell on speculation.
