This item is a truly beautiful Victorian painting on glass. This painting is of a very pretty lady is standing and leaning over a chair with her hands in a fur muff and wearing a beautiful hat with a large feather plume. The painting seems simple but it has quite a bit of detail, even the wallpaper pattern is painted in the background. The lady's face is very finely painted and she has a lovely expression. The painting is singed LAV and is painted on opaque white glass. The glass has some shallow chips on the edges, but these are completely covered when framed. The brass frame has a double frame effect with a maroon velvet border between the brass rails. The inner and outer frame rails have different patterns. The outer frame has a leaf, flower and dot pattern and the inner frame has an ex and line pattern. The back side of the frame is covered with red fabric and has brass hook rings and movable brass stays to anchor the hinged back section. The brass stays have a flower pattern which matches the corner detail on the front of the frame. The fabric covered easel back is torn and needs repair in order to stand, but the frame can be hung from the attached wire. The frame measures 7-1/2" high and 6-3/4" wide.
