Very Pretty Antique Pitcher / Vase with a transfer Portrait of a Beautiful Young Woman. The piece stands 5 1/2" high. The base is 3 7/8" in diameter. The base is four pointed with the points acting as feet...one of the feet is in the front, then one on each side and then one on the back. T are raised relief shell designs in the porcelain at the foot areas. The shape of the pitcher is very fancy with an ornate scrolled handle and fancy shaped mouth. The colors are very nice. Soft creamy ivory inside and on the handle...very pale light green at the top shadowing and merging into the darker green down the body. T is a leaf like pattern around the woman. She is just so pretty wth soft flowing brown hair...very detailed eyes...she looks handpainted to me, but I'm not sure, so assume it is a transfer. Marked on the bottom with an impressed symbol of some kind...sort of like a horseshoe or a "u", the Austria and 31 in red. In very nice condition with No cracks, hairlines or chips (although t is a rough area UNDER the glaze on the back side of the mouth spout)...does have overall fine crazing. Very pretty piece.
