Up for auction is an antique pair of tortoise shell eyeglasses. These eyeglasses are in great antique condition. These eyeglasses date from around 1870-1920. Its a little hard to tell which time period they're really from because the style and quality really didn't change much,but because they don't have screws, I think they probably date closer to the 1870s. The frames are handmade from real tortoise shell, and the lens appear to be the original prescription lens. The frames were made by F.A.Thiele, in København, Denmark. The Thiele Optical store was located on Købmagergade 3., which is a street in København. This information came from the original paper mache case the glasses come in. I would not advise replacing the lens, because the frames, being real tortoise shell, may brake. Over all these glasses are a wonderful piece!
