ANTIQUE VICTORIAN SILVER PLATED TABLE CENTREPIECE - CHERUB HOLDING BOWL ALOFT It's no secret that here at Sky-Parlor we love antique silver. From the craftsmanship to the quality old silver and silver plated pieces just resonate good taste. For bids today we have an item which ticks all the boxes in this silver plated Victorian table centrepiece. Most likely made in Germany in the late 1800s this piece features a cherub standing on the seafloor holding aloft a scalloped bowl. While the bowl and the ridged pattern base are beautiful in their simplicity, the Neoclassical chap in the centre is gorgeous in his detail from that expressive face down to the shell and floor he stands upon. Obviously being silver plated this centrepiece has a few indications of age. These include light scratches and marks (most prominently to the bowl interior), patina in a couple of nooks and crannies (which we've missed!), a dent in the bottom rim (not so noticable on display) and some tarnishing to the cherub himself. While the only way to cure the majority of these imperfections would be by re-plating the piece the sheer brilliance and quality of the overall tends to drown out the little niggles and thus they aren't too bothersome. In size this centrepiece is 26cm high with a 22.5cm wide bowl making it more than capable of being the centre of read more
