A wonderful antique Victorian Sterling Chatelaine with a powder box, a container possibly for matches, two retractable pencil containers, a mesh coin purse, and a small envelope for holding stamps ... the Chatelaine clip has a partially nude reclining lady holding an arrow (possibly Aphrodite?) with Cupid holding a bow with ornate scrollwork ... the back of the clip is hallmarked R & W, with an Anchor, Lion and a ... the clip appears to have a repair right above the decorative element in the front ... the round box is stamped A & L L, with an Anchor, Lion and b , the container has a gold tone inside and does have some dings ... the hinged container possibly for matches has etched decorative work on both sides with the initials M.P. B.D. and is stamped A C & S, with an Anchor, Lion and c, is in good condition with one tiny ding that is hardly noticeable ... the 1st retractable pencil container has a light blue stone set into the sliding mechanism but it seems to be jammed and is stamped with an Anchor, Lion and c and W V & ? (the rest is hard to read) ... the 2nd retractable pencil container has 3 retractable pencils with red, black and blue enamel dots with the engraved initials I. M.V.D. and is marked S. Mordan & Co., and all three sliding pencils do move ... a mesh coin purse which has no marks and some of the small decorative
