EXQUISITE ANTIQUE VICTORIAN WALNUT HIGH BACK BED This breathtaking piece of furniture dates to the 1870's. It is of the finest heavy quality walnut, not flimsy or cheap. The craftsmanship is impeccable. The bed is a high back, measuring 80" H x 57" W. The footboard is 33 1/2" H. The bed holds a full size mattress. The wood grain and detail is amazing, just lovely to look at. The carving is of a floral and vine motif. It is in excellent condition, with the only flaw being on the interior of one of the sideboards. It was damaged at some time before we purchased it. My husband and I made a small repair so that the bed would be functional and hold a box spring and mattress. This is not visible from the exterior not does it take away from the bed in any way. We custom made simple wood slats to support the box spring as well, and will include these with the bed if requested. The sideboards are beautiful and in excellent condition on the exterior, again with the only flaw on the interior of the left sideboard. Pictures do not do this bed justice. It is higher quality than most pieces and just a treasure to look at and sleep in. I paid $1295 for it about 10 years ago and am forced to sell it along with some other pieces much to my disappointment. Buyer must arrange for shipping company of their choice to pick up, pack and ship; or may pick it up themselves.
