This is a fantastic antique lap writing desk. At first I thought the wood was inlad but I believe the design is painted on the wooden top. Beautiful patina, wood is excellent, as is the whole box which still has its original ink bottle. Box is 12" by 8" and 4" high. Sorry, i do not have the key for it. Great old box which would surely delight you.
Found the little key to lock it. It was in among all the old paperwork in one of the compartments. Papers date from 1911 on. Must have belonged to the gentleman's wife since t are newspaper clippings of poems and flowers. Nice wood in both compartments.
