This handsome antique bulldog was made from the same mold and around the same time as an original Vienna bronze. He is cast spelter or other metal, not iron as a magnet does not ad It was common for the bronze foundries to produce less expensive versions of their figurines in this way. My sister happens to have the bronze version of this dog, and he looks identical to this one but for differences in wear. As expected, the casting is not quite as fine due to the softer metal, and the piece has many small lines and traces of the casting process. (The lines are not cracks.) The paint is quite worn, but much paint remains. The tail is cropped and may have broken off long ago. Please inspect pictures for condition. The dog measures 3-1/4" long by 3" tall.
