ANTIQUE ONE QUART TIN MILK (CREAM) PAIL WITH BAIL HANDLE is a nice clean 1/4 gallon (1 quart) cream pail that was recently found in central Virginia. Although often referred to as a milk can, pails this size were more likely to contain cream or were even used to carry other liquids (early thermos jugs with no insulation) to drink with lunch when away from home. Weighing just 1/2 pound, this old farm primitive measures 7-1/2" tall including the lid, with a diameter of 4-1/4" at the base and 3-3/8" at the top. The base is recessed slightly from the bottom rim. The can remains in good condition. The bail handle is firmly attached to the can and the lift lid is intact and easily removed. T are a few small usage dents, but no rust residue anyw on the pail. The old tin has darkened and worn smooth over the years. A nice clean farm primitive with many possible uses! THANKS FOR VISITING LANE'S COUNTRY LARK!
