Colorful Depression Era Quilt Top! I just love this Depression era scrap bag, "Nine Patch" quilt top for a number of reasons. It is pieced using a textbook study of the fabrics of this era. I also like the intersecting blocks made from a printed 30s fabric rather than the plain fabrics you normally see. If you love the prints and fabrics of the 1930s, this quilt will be a "winner". I can invision some thrifty quilter with a box or "scrap bag" full of odds and ends of quilting, dress-making and feed sack fabric, making use of what she had to create a thing of beauty and function. Most of this piece is done by hand with only the borders being machine stitched. This would make it easy to replace the few blocks with an age mark. This quilt top measures 73"x94". The "Nine Patch" blocks measure 4.5"x4.5". It is bordered by a triple border of white and the 30s blue print which is used throughout the quilt. This generous size would fit a double or queen bed, (using a dust ruffle and pillow shams). This quilt top is unwashed with the original factory starch in the fabric. It is in very good condition, crisp and clean, but there were a few age marks here or there. I have included pictures to show these areas...two small squares and a small area along the border.
