Welcome to Sabinemoon...and points WEST! We are very pleased to announce expansion from the Pineywoods of rural East Texas...to the "Rustic Elegance" of Ft. Worth...or as most call it, COWTOWN. W the west began...and still exists. In addition to the best-of-the-best antique folk-art quilts, we will be adding some diverse inventory...listing just a few items each week. We hope many of you take this opportunity to add to your "gathering". We sell without reserve -- bid with confidence -- all listings quality for our standard SATISFACTION-GUARANTEE -- if you don't like it, you don't have to keep it. So take a look...visit often...and CELEBRATE true auctions and eBay at its best with Sabinemoon! Item: TO-DIE-FOR near-mint condition 1940s/50s-era quilt -- Embroidered Tulip Block, with SWEET lavender alternating blocks -- it's KILLER-GOOD-LOOKING, it's FABULOUS, and it's LOOKING for a new, loving home -- as NICE a quilt as anyone could ask for -- bought in a small collection purchased in East Texas, which I'll be listing over the next couple weeks -- very elegant, and a perfect SPRING quilt to add to your collection -- don't miss it! Materials: All old 100% cottons -- tulip embroidery done against a cream background, alternated with lovely LAVENDER blocks -- quad-ruple bordered in sunshine-yellow, royal purple, jadite-green, and rose-pink -- WOW!!! -- let the sunshine in with this one -- it will totally own your guest bedroom or garden-room from the moment you display it -- narrowly banded and backed in solid lavender (see below condition paragraph about the one problem that this quilt has, which has absolutely NO impact on the front) -- even the embroidery thread is 100% embossed cotton. Batting: Light-weight old hand-carded cotton that came straight from the cotton patch -- obviously carefully cleaned of seeds and debris -- fairly thin and elegant -- a parlor piece...a family heirloom/showpiece -- one only showed off for company...and doesn't look like it ever saw the light of day. Handwork: Hand-pieced, hand-embroidered in excellent floral/tulip patterns, and then also totally hand-quilted in very plentiful, curving rows of the old Baptist Fan pattern at 6-7 small stitches per inch -- everything very nicely-executed. Size: 72" x 86" Condition: Absolutely excellent near MINT condition -- I don't believe it was ever used -- made and stored away for "good"...and good never came -- clean, strong and sturdy -- colors as crisp and vibrant as the day it was finished -- everything intact, including all hand-embroidery -- the only thing to note is that the solid lavender fabric that was used for the backing was washed and perhaps bleached before the quilt was completed -- it had to be before the quilt was completed, because t is absolutely no effect on the front of the quilt -- not even a speck of color variation on the front -- so as long as the rather mottled backside is not viewed, you've got yourself an elegant MINT condition quilt -- starting price does reflect this problem -- nothing else to report (clean as a whistle!), and no apologies -- has EXCEPTIONAL display value, as you can see in the pics -- ready for your bed, stacked in your quilt cabinet, hung over the door of your jelly cupboard -- or hang immediately as SPECTACULAR wall-art -- a true SHOW-STOPPER...and a MUST-HAVE for your collection -- an old TEXAS TULIP quilt....with ELEGANCE to spare -- it's can be YOURS!! Please email any questions. Priority shipping with delivery confirmation will be $12.95 -- insurance is extra, and optional. OUTSIDE THE U.S.A., SHIPPING WILL BE QUOTED AT END OF AUCTION -- BE PREPARED TO PAY GLOBAL AIR PRIORITY RATES ONLY.
