WELCOME TO SABINEMOON -- THE BEST LITTLE QUILTHOUSE IN TEXAS! Quilt lovers, collectors, and textile fanatics...we're glad you've come to visit! If you love cabinets chock-full of gorgeous old quilts...use your quilt collection year-round as fabulous wall-decor...or simply have an addiction to amazing old textiles (like we do!)...you've come to the right place! Most of our quilts are picked up on the backroads of rural Texas -- exploring every little country auction-barn and estate sale we can find. In our travels, we are constantly in search of exceptional examples of the quilter's art. Our favorites are not always the finest museum pieces, but rather fabulous prairie-style/pineywoods quilts that we refer to as TRUE TEXAS FOLK-ART. What we would like to provide is a place to stop-over, sip a cup of "java", get a little history and Texas culture lesson to boot...and then perhaps purchase a piece that will let the sunshine into your heart when you open the box on arrival. W e would like to thank our regular customers for your continued support -- your friendship and patronage is warmly appreciated and is the true "treasure" that has evolved from this endeavor. If this is your first visit to Sabinemoon, we hope to see you back often. 's a few great reasons to take this opportunity to start your OWN quilt collection or add to your existing "gathering" of antique textiles. Bid with confidence -- all listings qualify for our standard SATISFACTION-GUARANTEE -- if you don't like it, you don't have to keep it. We proudly acknowledge that what we sell is not always a QUILT that will actually be used as a bed linen...it is ART, and we welcome you to our gallery -- you will find some of the most SPECTACULAR, GRAPHIC quilts on-line -- we love COLOR, PATTERN and FORM. We know our textiles and have the experience to back it up -- we have collected, bought and sold quilts for over 20 years...and have helped build some note-worthy collections from coast-to-coast. These old hand-made quilts are fastly becoming extinct -- like other dying arts or disappearing species -- we should all think about building a collection as a legacy to our children and grandchildren. We sell everything without reserve -- our starting price simply protects our investment and w it goes from t is totally up to you. All buy-it-now purchases are shipped FREE...no matter how many you purchase. So take a look...visit often...and CELEBRATE true auctions and EBAY AT ITS BEST with Sabinemoon! Age: 1950s-era Item/Pattern: Dresden Plate -- old traditional pattern, with a twist -- this is not fine, elegant Dresden Plate -- this is kickin', stompin', country-style Dresden Plate -- talk about EYE-CANDY -- this one reminds me of the old Lifesavers candy for some reason, thrown against a WONDERFUL turquoise background, making it FANTASTICALLY GRAPHIC and the perfect display quilt for SUMMER -- this quilt displays SPECTACULAR visuals and GORGEOUS, BOLD JEWEL-TONED colors -- will fit right in at your beach house or lake cabin -- an old Texas BEAUTY that you will be proud to add to your collection!Fabrics: Mostly old 100% cottons, with just a few poly blends -- mostly 40s and 50s-era shirting and dress fabrics -- maybe a few earlier depression-era feedsacks -- some that were probably already old clothing remnants when this piece was constructed -- a true SCRAP quilt, probably made for utilitarian purposes, but "morphing" into FABULOUS FOLK-ART upon completion -- narrowly banded by turning the front to the back and hemming -- backed in solid creamy cotton -- straight edges. Batting: Feels like an old very thin blanket was used as the batting -- thin and light-weight, which makes it perfect for summer use. Handwork: The plates were totally handpieced, then machine-appliqued to the turquoise fabric with a zig-zag stich -- and then hand-quilted following the design of ...
