Spectacular and INCREDIBLY RARE EARLY sealskin leather Eskimo Inuit hunters bag which would carry hunting accessories on land or particularly in the boat. The consensus of folks who have seen it is turn of the last century or earlier. You can see the baby seal forms the entire bag with the leg holes tied off and the head/neck area stopped by a large, thick leather "plug." Extremely elaborate and ornate side seams with incredible faux ivory square inlays. I've taken some closeups of this. Additional 35" braided leather rope passing through a leather loop in the front of the bag and terminating with leather tassels adds great additional interest and appeal. Here are the measurements of this outstanding hunting bag. The entire bag itself (not counting head plug and fringe but including the handle ), measures 25" long x 11" wide. The bag only measures 15-1/2" x 11," again excl. head closure. NOTE: The "lighter" coloration photos were taken outside and the "darker" coloration photos inside. Bag is closer in coloration to the outside shots but appears somewhat richer in color "in-hand."I purchased this bag from collector/dealers Mike and Carol Welter at the National Duck decoy show @ Pheasant Run resort outside Chicago in 2010. I paid several multiples of my starting bid in order to have an opportunity to own it.It's rare, reeks of age read more
