Welcome to Sabinemoon...and points WEST! We are very pleased to announce expansion from the Pineywoods of rural East Texas...to the "Rustic Elegance" of Ft. Worth...or as most call it, COWTOWN. W the west began...and still exists. In addition to the best-of-the-best antique folk-art quilts, we will be adding some diverse inventory...listing just a few items each week. We hope many of you take this opportunity to add to your "gathering". We sell without reserve -- bid with confidence -- all listings quality for our standard SATISFACTION-GUARANTEE -- if you don't like it, you don't have to keep it. So take a look...visit often...and CELEBRATE true auctions and eBay at its best with Sabinemoon! Item: 1940s-era antique African-American patchwork quilt -- another fine (and FUN!) example of AAFA textiles -- true Texas folk-art quilts, from an East Texas collection -- this one a simple STACKED BLOCK pattern using old feedsacks -- SWEET!!...to the max -- a magnificent mix of old mellow fabrics -- a make-do, utilitarian quilt which ended up fabulous, folky and extremely graphic -- the perfect decor piece for any style from shabby chic/cottage-style to Farmhouse Victorian to Moderne Art! Materials: All old 100% cottons -- a large treasure-trove of depression-era FEEDSACK fabrics, probably saved or accumulated over many years to create this work of art -- some perhaps salvaged or SCRAPPED from old, worn clothing remnants -- an angelic color combination -- narrowly banded and backed in solid rose pink cotton. Batting: Light-weight old hand-carded cotton that came straight from the cotton patch -- nice and thin. Handwork: A mixture of hand and machine-piecing on an old treadle, and then totally hand-quilted in plentiful rows of the old L-shaped or elbow pattern at 4-5 stitches per inch -- nothing measured or matched -- the construction is on the naive/primitive side...but absolutely WORKS! Size: 76" x 80" Condition: Very good condition for a 60-70 year-old quilt -- clean, and still pretty strong -- does show light to medium wear, but years of LIFE left in this sweetheart with gentle treatment -- colors pretty crisp, which just enough mellowing to melt your heart -- TOTAL EYE-CANDY for those that like to peruse the old FEEDSACK fabrics -- everything intact, except a few small shatters on the backside -- edges show some minor frays -- batting has thinned and shifted a little bit, but is not of significance and not even noticeable on the front of the quilt -- maybe a little light surface soil, and really saying that for good measure -- nothing else to report, and no apologies -- has EXCEPTIONAL display value -- ready for your bed, stacked in your quilt cabinet, hung over the door of your jelly cupboard -- or hang immediately as SPECTACULAR wall-art -- a real LOOKER...a SWEETHEART of a quilt...and a MUST-HAVE for your collection! Please email any questions. Priority shipping with delivery confirmation will be $12.95 -- insurance is extra, and optional. OUTSIDE THE U.S.A., SHIPPING WILL BE QUOTED AT END OF AUCTION -- BE PREPARED TO PAY GLOBAL AIR PRIORITY RATES ONLY.
