Instrument Offered from Surveyor's Collection. Antique C.L. Berger brass and black speckle finish very nice wye level dating to 1925-1929 as indicated by the serial number 15449. This cleaned and nicely operating surveying level has clear optics and the recticles (cross hairs) are clear and clean. Focus operates well and the beautiful brass leveling screws have been cleaned and lubricated. The base is flat and true and the level bubble is clean and unbroken. The telescope and frame are very nice original painted black crackle type with very few blemishes. The black color is uniform and the brass exposed parts have a nice patina. The locking tangent screw has been bent some during it's useful years but operates correctly. The top yoke bracket on the eyepiece end has also been slightly bent but closes and locks securely and has little effect on the operation. The threaded base is 3 1/4" thread, probably 8 to the inch. A tripod is not included as a part of this auction. I do have a 3 1/4" base tripod from a Buff & Buff instrument that I own and it fits nicely as to thread size and type. The scope is 18" in length, 8" in height and the instrument weighs approximately 11 lbs plus the box. The box is solid and contains the original lock skeleton key and adjustment tools for the instrument. Both the lens cover and sunshade are included read more
