this is a bronze cannon with copper plating that was presented to the united staes secretary of defense in 1956 by the base in belegrano panama. the silver plate plaque attached to the marble base reads in spanish what the plastic one pictured made by the navy for his office reads in english.the camera wouldnt focus to well on the attached plaque just blurry. the cannon has a cradle which has whells that roll on the attached rail system and has miniature geared that rortae on the back to gear it on the track and to raise and lower.the track cradle and wheels and stairs are all tarnished copper color but are probobly just copper plated .the cannon has a straight through bore .the is no breech cover and dont believe t ever was .this was not built im sure to be a signal cannon even though it is a very quality piece it came from the estate of the family back east afew years ago weighs approx 15 lbs total the base is 13x 16 cannon barrell 11in cradle is 8in long wheels 1in diameter Carriage slides back and forth also on very small wheels attached plaque Reads Sr. Secretario ce la mrina de los EEUU de America DCharles S thomas visita a la Base Naval de puerto Belegrano 1955
