ANTIQUE BUTCHERS CHOPPING BLOCK This item up for auction is an antique Butcher's Chopping Block. This item is probably close to 100 years old. The item was first in my Great Grandfather's General store, then used in my Grandfather's Poultry market, and then handed down to my mother. When it was given to my mother it was in distress with curves in the wood. My father in the late 70's then refurbished the item straightening out the top, adding copper to strengthen the legs and accenting with ball casters. This item has been in my Mother's home for years, and she has since downsized to a smaller home and does not have the room for the item. The wood has been confirmed by my mother as CYPRESS WOOD. Very expensive and a hard wood. Also, she states that the pieces of the butcher block are placed in t like a puzzle. That the wood is not just stacked for the view on the top, but that the puzzle runs deep in the block, making the item more valuable. Dimensions are 20 in. W by 20 in. D by 34 in H. The large block itself is 13 in. H before the legs are attached. If you have questions regarding this item please email me.
