DOUBLE FRAMED SCHOOL WRITING SLATE KITCHEN MESSAGE BOARD / CHILD'S WRITING TABLET Since these old schoolhouse writing slates are no longer practical to use as originally intended, they now serve nicely as kitchen message boards or as toy writing tablets for children. This example is larger than many seen today and was recently found in south central Pennsylvania. It measures 10-1/2" long x 7-3/8" wide. The slates are double hinged with a tightly woven canvas fabric and offer four writing surfaces. It features nice undamaged wood frames that are tight at the corners and worn slate chalkboards. One slate has a tight crack from top to bottom. This slate is lined for the beginning student. The pictures show both sides of the slates. Nice primitive writing tablets for use in today's home!
