You are bidding on an antique block quilt that measures 73"x76". The material is cotton with medium cotton batting. This piece is hand quilted and has apx. 5-6 stitches per inch. I am no expert but I believe this quilt to be from the late 1800's based upon the fabrics and condition. It may be early 1900's you be the judge. The backing of this quilt is a beautiful striped calico print. I would not have the heart to disassemble the quilt, but this is an option should someone choose to do this for the historical fabric on the back. This quilt does have deterioration due to age on the quilt top, it has fading and some browning stains. The edges are fraying on the sides and I think at some time in the past someone added calico bands to the top and bottom edges. All of the quilts listed have been found in Virginia and southern West Virginia(Appalachian Mountains). Most were made from feedsack, clothing cuttings and cotton muslin which I think adds to their beauty since someone made something gorgeous from utilitarian objects. I need to downsize my collection and am offering these quilts with no reserve and less than I paid for them. I try to describe all of my items accurately. If I have unknowingly made a mistake in my description of the item, I will refund your purchase price upon the safe return of the item in the original packing, in the condition sent to you and if the item is shipped back to me within 3 days of receipt.
