Antique / Vintage Metal Rooster Weather Vane Nice old weather vane removed from a barn has not been cleaned up at all. It is made of pot metal or cast aluminum - some sort of non-rusting metal except for the bolts - on a pole with an adjustable mount for a flat or pitched roof. Probably a long time ago, the rooster was painted red and the rest of the vane arrow, directional indicators, pole and mount were painted black. The paint is chipped in places, showing the silvery metal. The surface shows dirt, bird droppings, etc (see photos) and the bolts that hold on the directional indicators and adjust the mount bracket are rusty. I have not tried to move the bolts at all. It is about 28 1/4 " high overall. The vane arrow is about 21" from tip to end of feather. The directional indicators are about 13 1/4" long. The rooster itself is about 7 1/4" high and 6 1/4" wide. The vane is complete and working except that one leg of the 'W' directional is broken off (see photos.) I do not know the age of this, but a little bit of research I have done leads me to believe it is at least 50 years old.
