VERY RARE pre-1967 EARLY Buck 120 General with 1-line Tang StampUp for auction is the single finest example of this form of sword we have ever encountered. We present for your consideration a large and fine early Mexican sword of scimitar form, and dating by our estimation to ca. 1920-1930. This comes to us out of a collection of rather nice vintage and antique Mexican knives we recently acquired. As mentioned, the sword is large , measuring 30 inches (76.2 cm) in OAL with a 23 1/2-inch (60 cm) blade that measures 3 1/4 inches (8.3 cm) in width at its widest. The eagle-head pommel has jewel-set eyes (glass, maybe?), one blue, one white. Though the blue stone looks older, the white stone looks to be more recent. Both the eagle-head pommel and the guard are made of aluminum, and the tang is peened at the pommel. The stacked leather grip is in excellent condition, and like the rest of this example is large for this type, measuring nearly 4 3/4 inches in circumference at the palm swell. All the fittings are tight. The blade is richly etched on both sides, and the etching is nicely executed. The obverse is covered in elaborate foliate scroll work, while the reverse depicts animal scenes, featuring a family of foxes in a landscape setting and more scroll work. While covered in light carbon discoloration, the blade is absent any pitting and should clean up nicely - a task we'll leave to the discretion of the new owner. The blade is marked by its maker, Noriega Hermanos . Overall, a fine if not stunning example of this type - if you were to own just one, than this is the one you want! Ask all questions prior to bidding, as all sales are final. Must be 18 to bid, and by bidding, you are agreeing that you are of legal age to purchase this tiem. International bidders PLEASE check first for a shipping quote. No shipping to countries that forbid the import of knives. Good luck and ! PLEASE CHECK OUT OUR OTHER AUCTIONS FOR MORE VINTAGE & ANTIQUE MILITARY AND ETHNOGRAPHIC ANTIQUE EDGED WEAPONS!
