I obtained this beautiful Pre ban antique Ivory elephant at an estate sale this fall. This is a very old elephant is in beautiful condition. The hand carving is beautifully done. Looking at him, he looks perfect. I believe that the tip of his right ear is missing, although that may have been the way he was carved as I am not an expert. the top of his trunk also feels a little rough also, as if t might have been a curved part to the trunk. Maybe not, as I have stated, I am not an expert on antique pre-ban ivory, but I do know this is an antique pre-ban elephant, as that was how it was listed at an estate auction. This is not a reproduction nor is it plastic. On the bottom of the elephant is red Japanese or Chinese writing that is carved into the elephant. He feels smooth to the touch and has weight. The elephant is 1 3/4 inches long and 1 1/2 inches tall.
