Chalkboard with REAL Antique Schoolhouse Slate! This is a very nice chalkboard made with a reclaimed barn wood frame and old schoolhouse slate. The wood used for the frame came from an old barn that was recently torn down. It has wonderful original old white paint with gray weathered wood beneath. Nail holes add to the wood's unique look. An antique drawer pulled turned upside down has been installed as a unique way to store the chalk. The pull is perfect rusty bronze color...a perfect match for a rustic look. Pocket hole joinery, the same method used for cabinetry, was utilized when making the frame therefore it's very sturdy. The slate used for this chalkboard came out of a local elementary school which was built in the early 1920's. It's approximately 1/4" thick and is in very nice condition. Nothing beats actual slate for a chalkboard. Spray painted chalkboard surfaces just don't compare. This slate has lasted for 90 years and will last for many more years to come! Dimensions: 34" by 23" Outside Measurements 26" by 15 1/2" Inside Measurements (writing surface space) Weight: Approximately 30 lbs
