Antique Violin Antonius Stradivarius Cremonensis, Faciebat Anno 1717. I found this violin in my great uncle's belongings. It is very old and will need restoration. Inside the violin is an original paper tag that is visible through the front face - the marking says "Antonius Stradivarius Cremonensis, Faciebat Anno 1717. T is also a small circle to the right of the writing with the letters 'A and S' with a cross between the letters. The back of the violin is in good shape except for wearing of the finish, a very slight crack at the bottom. The front has a crack down the bottom center but can probably be refinished. The cheek piece is intact, but the piece at the end of the strings has come off - the bottom pin holding it in place is missing. T are four strings present. I cannot find any other markings as to the violin's origin apart from the word ' Germany ' on the very bottom of the violin. The violin comes complete with a bow which will need new strands of hair. T is a nice 'mother of pearl' inlaid piece on the top end. T is no case. Please see photos and please e-mail me with any other questions about this piece or if you would like other photos.
