Inside the violin is a small paper label that reads: copy of ANTONIUS STRADIUARIUS made in GERMANY. The only identification on the wooden coffin style case is on the upper part of the Brass latches, the letters GSB in a circle are faint but can be read. The violin has strings and is in excellent condition, I know nothing about violins so please look closely at the pictures and ask questions before bidding. T aren't any chips, dents, splits or even noticable scratches, the finish has been worn off the neck. All ot the Tuning pegs can be tightened and do hold the tension, I didn't overtighten them. The violin is 15-1/2" long overall, the body is 14" long and 8" across the widest part. The 28-5/8" long bow needs to be strung, it is marked GERMANY. Also included are two bridges, one marked K. Meyer and the second marked DRESDEN made in U.S.A., t are two used strings, a small amount of Rosen in a box with no cover, an empty envelope (torn on the front) for a metal E string marked: patented OCT. 30TH 1917, and 4 additional Tuning Pegs. The wood case is also in very good shape. T is very little wear to the exterior, wood fracturing can be seen w it is bent sharply around the small end of the case. The hardware is Brass, one latch is missing the tab and doesn't latch. The case has a hand carved wood handle that I believe is original going by the way it is attached to the hardware. On the inside t is an area 4" x 4" w the black paint and some of the wood has been removed, t is a name written in pencil on the bare wood. The name is my wifes father, he was born in 1900 and this violin belonged to his father, so it is old. I believe the case was modified to provide room for the violin, the black fabric in the bottom of the case was also loosened and I believe some of the padding may have been removed. T is seperation between the edges of adjoining boards on the cover and bottom of the case, the seperation is uniform and runs the full length. The pictures show its current condition, ask questions before bidding. INSURANCE IS REQUIRED AND WILL BE CALCULATED AT THE END OF AUCTION. Domestic shipping: Flat Rate $32.00 includes Delivery Confirmation, (no signature required). Canadian shipping: Flat Rate $32.00 includes Certificate of Mailing. No Other International Shipments. The violin is 23-1/2" long not 15-1/2" as is shown is the original listing description.
