This is a KGL Hof-Brauhaus Munchen beer stein in near pristine condition. There is a stable crack on the upper handle where it joins with the body and there are a few light scratches and stains. Included is the original paper receipt that is torn along the fold lines. The receipt is complete with no missing pieces and indicates the date of manufacture as July 14, 1904. This date is consistant with the "KGL." on the lid indicating royal ownership prior to 1920. The stein is the large 1 litre size standing 8 and 5/8 inches tall (including the lid) and it is 4 inches in diameter at the base. The front features the Hofbrau logo in exqusite detail with the H&B under a crown. The heavy pewter lid is impressed with the words "KGL. HOF-BRAUHAUS MUNCHEN". The front of the lid is engraved with the number "19009". The size mark "1L." is etched in the clay near the lid and the Merkel Bach & Wick stamp on the bottom is visible but indistinct.
