For auction is an Antique Painted Wood Arch Picture Frame . No glass. From roughly 1920's - 40's. Possibly plywood, hard to tell. Doesn't seem to be gessoed. Topcoat paint color is Yellow Ochre (not metallic Gold ). Quick & haphazard. Back may have been stained or painted. Its had much use & love...a couple of layers of paint, heat, cold, humidity, dry, dirt, drippy water & general moving around. Then repeat -- paint, heat, cold, humidity, dirt...you get the idea. Its just been dusted, nothing more. IMHO it's beautiful as it is. Cracks, chips, rubbing, dings, drips, crevices w/tiny crackling & layers of "patina" :) It would be extremely hard to reproduce this treatment. Structurally it feels very strong. I am no expert though. End grain top layer in back tenon broken out of a joint - not affecting joint strength. Chip of tenon missing in front inside edge (different corner joint). Appears as small hole -- blends into appearance & strength not an issue. Back side has several holes from nails holding the glass in place & a few screw holes from hangers. Gray on back from recent duct tape used instead of nails . Old metal eye screws & recent picture wire. Outside measurements 13" high x 11" wide x 3/4" thick. Picture opening measurements 9-1/2" high x 7-1/2" wide. Rim space for glass 3/8" - 1/2" wide. Will fit glass 10-1/4" high x
