You don't find them like this often. This hand forged drag shoe weighs in in at 17.5 lbs and is just over 18" in length. Everything from the shoe to the chain looks to be hand forged. I picked this up in the late 1970's along with a big load of antiques. The old lady I purchased the stuff from had owned a Saloon in Nevada City Calf, I'm guessing she was up in her 80's at the time. She had sold her Saloon years past and retired to a ranch up in the North San Juan area. I was on my way up to Montana to haul back a load of antiques and collectibles when I stopped by an old friends grandparents to say hello. Whenever I was in the area I stopped by had a beer and would have a little visit with them. In talking they told me about this stuff the old lady was getting rid of. I told them I was very interested so they set up a meeting at an old home she had in Nevada City that she had lived in when she had owned the Saloon. I picked up old mining stuff from back in the 1850's-1880's, old Chinese items from when they worked the gold mines, antique pistols, an old Regina upright coin operated music box, a Caille upright slot machine and this drag shoe.
