antique Warner & Swasey WWI U.S. Navy prism binoculars Description Up for auction is a pair of old Warney & Swasey power 8 prism binoculars. From what I read /~telscope/war-swas.txt , Warner & Swasey beat out the competitors and won the binoculars contract for the U.S. Navy. These binoculars are in good working condition but could use a cleaning. Not real dirty inside but you can see a few dirt specks and old dust. The brass w the name is marked was so thick with old patina that I has to scratch a little off with my nail just to see who made these. The brass looks pretty good under the old grime so they would clean up pretty nice if the high bidder decides to. I generally don't remove any old patina on things I list but needed to scrape a little just so I could make out the name. The leather strap piece has some age cracking in the leather but is intact and sturdy. I'm not seeing any moisture damage, just normal wear you would expect from a used pair of WWI binocs! The leather wrap is still pretty nice with a couple rub spots but no tears or lifting. I just now noticed some chipping on one of the rubber end caps you hold up to your eyes. This is around the base of the rubber part that attaches to the lens. Hasn't affected them other than cosmetically. Stays on t fine. They have a patent date on them that looks to read: March 18, 1902. Binoculars read a few other words but I don't want to clean them further than I have in order to make out the words. They measure 4.25" long x about 3.75" across the front. Email any questions. Will include a postage calculator for U.S. buyers. If international bidders would like to get an idea of postage, it should weigh about 3 lbs. packed and insured. MO buyers add 7.475% sales tax. PaymentFeel free to email any questions or additional pictures. Payment expected within 7 days. I gladly combine shipping. MISSOURI BUYERS MUST ADD 7.475% SALES TAX. If item weighs less than 70 lbs. and the length + girth combined is under 108", I will ship via the post office. If under 165 bs. and length/girth combined is between 109" to 130", I ship UPS. I do not ship FED EX. T rates are high for me most likely because of w I live. International Buyers ? Please Note: Import duties, taxes and charges are not included in the item price or shipping charges. These charges are the buyer's responsibility & are at the discretion of their country's customs office. Please check with your country's customs office to determine what these additional costs may be prior to bidding/buying. Please ask questions before the auction ends. I'm usually online and respond quickly. U.S. payments are expected within 7 days. If you feel you cannot pay within that time frame, please don't bid. Auctions that are not paid for within 7 days may be relisted and the Final Value Fees I'm charged (for selling the item) will be requested from ebay, which will result in a bad mark on the non paying bidders ebay account. Will not ship to Indonesia, Nigeria or the Middle East due to excessive credit card fraud from these countries.
